Rachel Alexandra had her first workout since returning to Churchill Downs when she breezed five furlongs early Monday with regular exercise rider Dominic Terry aboard.
With trainer Steve Asmussen watching frontside at about 6:30 a.m., before daylight broke, Rachel Alexandra went the distance in 1:00.20 over a fast track. Because of the darkness, no splits were available, although the Churchill clockers caught her galloping out six furlongs in 1:14.
Gun owner warns others

The owner of the gun that fired and killed a 12-year-old Louisville boy last week is speaking out with a warning to gun owners everywhere.
“Honestly i don’t know what to say to anybody other than the same thing I told my friend last night,” said gun owner John O’Bryan. “If you have a gun in the house lock it up and get rid of it especially if you got kids.”

Tyler Perry comes to Louisville on Thursday as the pistol-packing grandma Mable “Madea” Simmons, in his new touring show, “Madea’s Big Happy Family”. The play, with its 15-member cast and live band, will be performed at Freedom Hall.
