A retailer who called themselves the world’s foremost outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear has announced plans to open a store in Louisville. Cabela’s Incorporated will open an 88,000-square-foot facility in the Old Brownsboro Crossing development.

Construction is scheduled to begin in this summer, and the store, which will be Cabela’s first store in Kentucky, is expected to open by spring of next year.

A Louisville fugitive wanted for the past year is now in custody after he was arrested in Arizona. Police said Ismaeel K. al-Kini attacked his estranged wife in front of their three young children.

Al-Kini is facing one count of first-degree assault. He is now in jail at Metro Corrections. Al-Kini used to live with his then-wife and three young children. She moved out during divorce proceedings.

Police say a delivery driver for Domino’s Pizza handed over more than a pizza when he was robbed by several armed men. Police say the driver was making a delivery on E. Oak St. in early December when three men wearing ski masks and bandanas approached him.

One of the men, identified by police as 21-year-old Haris Boskailo, pulled a gun and took the victim’s cell phone, $30 in cash as well as the pizza and the pizza delivery bag.

Freshman Bria Smith scored 12 points and the No. 18 Louisville Cardinals defeated Providence 64-48 Wednesday night. Becky Burke went 3 of 3 from behind the arc to add 11 points and Antonita Slaughter had 10 points. Asia Taylor had eight points and 10 rebounds in 14 minutes for Louisville (15-4, 4-2 Big East).

Alicia Cropper was the only Providence player to reach double figures, pacing the Friars (10-9, 2-4) with 14 points. Leading scorer Teya Wright managed just three points, 10 below her season average.

It looks as if Occupy Louisville protesters won’t get their day in court on Thursday.

Thomas C. Kelly, who led the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville for a quarter of a century and guided it through a clergy abuse scandal, died at his home parish on Wednesday. He was 80.

Kelly led a service and delivered the homily at Holy Trinity in eastern Louisville the previous night, and died in the morning, Louisville Archbishop Joseph Kurtz said.
