Commission on Public Art

The Commission on Public Art (COPA) will: A. Oversee the implementation of the Public Art Master Plan. B. Review and propose public policy concerning public art and conduct periodic reviews of the need to update the Public Art Master Plan. C. Advocate for public art throughout Louisville. D. Review and develop plans for the inventory, maintenance, acquisition and de-acquisition of public art owned by Louisville Metro. E. Review and approve grant applications for public art projects from the Louisville Public Space Art Fund.

Term: 4 years.
Compensation: None.

Board of Health

The Louisville Metro Board of Health is a twelve-member body appointed by the mayor. The board is empowered by Kentucky statute to promulgate laws and regulations to protect the health and safety of Louisville Metro citizens. The Board of Health acts as an independent voice to promote and protect equitable physical, mental, and environmental health in Louisville through advocacy, education, regulation, and collaboration with public and private entities.

Council Approval: Yes
Term: 3 years and until their successors are appointed and qualified.
Compensation: $50 for each meeting attended. No member shall be paid more than $600 during any fiscal year, nor for more than 12 meetings held during any fiscal year. Ex officio members do not receive this compensation.

Board of Zoning Adjustment

The Louisville Metro Board of Zoning Adjustment is empowered to grant conditional use permits and dimensional variances from the zoning district regulations. Appeals to the Board may be made by any person or entity claiming that an official action or decision of any zoning enforcement official is in error.

Council Approval: Yes
Term: 3 years and until their successors are appointed and qualified.
Compensation: Citizen members receive $50 for each meeting attended, but no member may be paid more than $1500 during any fiscal year nor for more than 30 meetings attended per year. Citizen members may be reimbursed for any necessary authorized expenditures.
